Big Save Joins the Fight to Clean Up The Communities
“Two hundred Nyaope users from the Mabopane and Soshanguve communities have come forward and asked for rehabilitation, commented Malala. But they are from previously disadvantaged homes and simply don’t have the means to go. We hope to raise enough funds to purchase a mini bus, so we have a practical solution to help these users with transport to the outbound patient programmers where they can seek help.”
Big Save have come on board as one of the main sponsors, providing refreshments and support along the way during the Long Walk from Johannesburg to Mabopane.
Tony Jardim, Store Manager at Big Save Mabopane did not hesitate to help and commented: “We are supporting this very important cause as it is destroying our youth and breaking down our communities.”
The cause is close to Malala’s heart, hailing from Soshanguve himself and discovering that many of his friends from primary and high school are among the users who have come forward asking for help. “They are destroying themselves through this addiction, exchanging blood through a syringe to share their high to cut costs.  This is one way that I hope to warn people against this harmful addiction and increased risk of HIV, while raising funds for those who want to get clean.”
Malala was very thankful to Big Save, who he sees as being very visible in the communities and continually reaching out and helping where they can. “We are humbled to have a company like Big Save contributing to this cause and adopting our project so quickly. I have been overwhelmed with their support and would like to thank them for taking an active step to help stop this highly addictive new drug trend, causing damage to our young people.”
